Who we are

Matthew Jones is a seasoned software and consulting professional with 25+ years experience working with global brands such as Accenture and IBM and start-ups in the UK, Ireland and China.

Following his passions has taken him to langlauf in Arctic Norway, windsurf the Penghu Islands and hike the Thames path from Henley to Putney (fyi - it’s downhill all the way!).

Always eager to step out on point, Matt leads teams that stay curious and get stuff done!

1999

Started his technology career with the then Andersen Consulting in London

That gave him a really solid foundation in programming, testing, integration and system design; working mostly with major telecoms clients on customer relationship management and enterprise application integration programs.

2003

MBA at INSEAD

After INSEAD, he worked in China for 5 years with a state owned enterprise, an investment bank and a digital agency.

2011

Joined the IBM IX digital agency in London

To work with some of the leading lights of User Centric Design that were taking design best practice and agile ways of working from the premier consumer internet and gaming brands of the day to the world of work. This took him from Dublin to Ingolstadt and from Cupertino to Tokyo. Key clients were major names in the automotive, aerospace, banking and telecoms industries.

2022 to 2024

Product & Delivery Lead at ubloquity.io

A start-up focused on building networks of digital trust, reducing frictions and improving traceability across borders for the food, retail and manufacturing supply chains.

today

Matt retains access to a close network of trusted professionals

These are people who he has worked with before and is able to draw upon to provide expertise in business, financial and mathematical modeling, technical architecture, software development and more - when such needs are clearly identified.

point of view

Matt loves to take every opportunity to learn about and skill-up on new technologies that are redefining our future, including: 3D real-time graphics, cloud architecture, blockchain, machine learning & AI.

However, that vantage point gives him perspective to see that often it makes more sense to get the simple things right first rather than getting distracted by the shiny new thing. Focusing on customer needs; identifying pain points; mapping, measuring and simplifying processes; and reviewing regularly how you can improve are the things that will make the biggest difference to everyday business performance. That's not to say you shouldn't experiment with new stuff too, but just be mindful of how you prioritise budgets and where your best people are focused.

New software can sometimes help, but it’s that curious state of mind and perseverance which will make the biggest impact over time!
